The Department of Posts, India Post, has declared the fourth merit list for Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Recruitment 2026, one of its largest recruitment drives, covering 28,635 posts across the country.
Applications had opened on 31 January 2026 and closed on 14 February 2026 by 5 PM, with the fee payable till 16 February 2026 through e-challan at the nearest head post office or GPO, and a correction window on 18 and 19 February 2026. The first merit list was declared on 6 March 2026, the second on 10 April 2026, the third on 12 May 2026, and the fourth on 8 June 2026. The fee was 100 rupees for General and OBC candidates, while SC, ST, PH candidates and all female candidates were exempted. The age limit is 18 to 40 years, and eligibility is a Class 10 pass with Mathematics and English as subjects, along with knowledge of the local language of the applied circle. Vacancies are spread across states, with Maharashtra carrying the largest share at 3553 posts, followed by Uttar Pradesh at 3169 and West Bengal at 2963.
Candidates who applied can check the fourth merit list on the official India Post GDS portal using their registration number, since the process has already gone through three earlier merit lists.
