The Department of Posts has released the second merit list and result for its Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) recruitment under Schedule II of July 2023, covering 30,041 posts across the country. This is one of the largest GDS recruitment drives, with vacancies spread across states and union territories according to local language requirements, from Uttar Pradesh's 3,084 posts and Maharashtra's 3,154 posts to smaller allocations such as Delhi's 22 posts.
Applications had opened on 3 August 2023 and closed on 23 August 2023, with the fee due the same day and a correction window running from 24 to 26 August 2023. The fee was 100 rupees for General and OBC candidates, while SC, ST, PH candidates and women of all categories were exempted. Candidates needed to be between 18 and 40 years of age and to have passed class 10 with Mathematics and English as subjects, along with knowledge of the local language of the circle applied for. The first merit list came out on 6 September 2023, followed by the second merit list on 29 September 2023.
Selection for GDS posts is based on class 10 marks rather than a written exam, so candidates should check the state-wise merit list published by their respective postal circle for their status.
