The Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) have opened applications for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027, the national exam used for postgraduate engineering admissions and recruitment in several public sector companies.
Applications began on 27 August 2026. The regular window closes on 27 September 2026, with an extended Phase II window until 5 October 2026 for late applicants, and a correction period from 14 to 21 October 2026. The exam is scheduled across 6 to 21 February 2027, exam city details are due on 4 January 2027, and the result is expected on 19 March 2027. The fee is 2000 rupees for General, OBC and EWS candidates and 1000 rupees for SC, ST, PH and women candidates in the regular window, rising to 2500 and 1500 rupees respectively for late applicants in Phase II. There is no minimum or maximum age limit to appear for GATE.
The admit card will be issued before the exam, and the answer key is expected afterward, though its date has not been announced. Candidates should watch for the exam city announcement and admit card release closer to February.
