South Central Railway has invited applications for various Trade Apprentice posts under its Railway Recruitment Cell, with 4232 vacancies on offer across a number of trades. The drive covers workshops and divisions where apprentices will be trained in specific trades before being assessed against the notified vacancy numbers.
Applications opened on 28 December 2024 and the online form, along with the exam fee payment, closes on 27 January 2025. The fee is 100 rupees for General, OBC and EWS candidates, while SC, ST, PH candidates and women from all categories are not required to pay anything. Candidates must be between 15 and 24 years of age. On the trade side, Fitter carries the largest share with 1742 posts, followed by Electrician at 1053, AC Mechanic at 143, Machinist at 100, Electronic Mechanic at 85, Painter at 74, Power Maintenance Electrician at 34 and Carpenter at 42. The basic entry requirement is a Class 10 pass with 50 percent marks along with an ITI certificate in the relevant trade.
The exam fee can only be paid online, through debit card, credit card, net banking or UPI, so candidates should keep a payment method ready before starting the form. Trade-wise eligibility differs, so applicants should check the notification for the exact requirement tied to the trade they are choosing.
