The Staff Selection Commission has invited applications for the Combined Graduate Level, CGL, examination 2026, one of the commission's largest annual recruitment drives, reopened for candidates who missed the earlier window. The exam covers a wide spread of Group B and Group C posts across central government ministries and departments.
Applications opened on 21 May 2026 and closed on 25 June 2026 up to 11 PM, with the online fee payment window extending one day further to 26 June 2026. A correction window followed from 1 to 7 July 2026 for candidates who needed to amend their forms. Tier I is expected in August or September 2026, and Tier II in December 2026, with the admit card to be issued before each exam. The fee is 100 rupees for General, OBC and EWS candidates, while it is waived for SC, ST, PH candidates and for women in every category. A first correction costs 200 rupees and a second costs 500 rupees. The minimum age is 18 years, and the upper limit varies between 27 and 32 years depending on the post.
Posts on offer span departments such as the CBDT, CBIC, Intelligence Bureau, NHRC, Railways, External Affairs and the Department of Posts, ranging from Junior Statistical Officer and Inspector grades to Sub Inspector, Tax Assistant, Auditor, Accountant and Postal Assistant roles. Candidates should go through the notification post by post, since eligibility and the age band differ from one department to another.
