The Union Public Service Commission had invited applications for recruitment to 827 posts through the Combined Medical Services Examination CMSE 2024. The recruitment covered Medical Officer positions, including the General Duty Medical Officers Sub Cadre of the Central Health Service.
Online applications opened on 10 April 2024 and closed on 30 April 2024 up to 6 PM, with the exam fee payable by the same date. Candidates could correct their applications between 1 and 7 May 2024. The written exam was held on 14 July 2024, with the admit card released on 5 July 2024. The result came out on 30 July 2024, followed by the final result on 14 November 2024, and the reserve list was made available on 26 May 2025. The exam fee was 200 rupees for General, OBC and EWS candidates, while SC, ST, PH candidates and women of all categories were exempted from payment. The maximum age limit for candidates was 32 years. Among the posts, 163 vacancies were notified for Medical Officers in the General Duty Medical Officers Sub Cadre, requiring an MBBS degree, whether passed or awaited, from a recognised university in India.
