The Union Public Service Commission has declared the mains result for the Combined Geo-Scientist Examination 2023, against 285 total vacancies. The posts cover Geologist Group A with 216 vacancies, Geophysicist Group A with 21, Chemist Group A with 19, and Scientist B covering hydrogeology, chemical and geophysics streams with 29 posts.

Online applications had opened on 21 September 2022 and closed on 11 October 2022 by 6 PM, with the fee payable by the same date. The preliminary exam was held on 19 February 2023 with its result declared on 3 March 2023, and the mains exam followed on 24 and 25 June 2023, with the mains result finally declared on 12 January 2024. The fee is 200 rupees for General and OBC candidates, while SC, ST, PH and female candidates are exempted. Eligibility for the Geologist post requires a master degree in geological science, geology, applied geology or an equivalent field, while Geophysicist and Chemist posts require a master degree in the respective physics or chemistry stream.
