The Union Public Service Commission, UPSC, has released the reserve list for the Combined Geo-Scientist Examination 2024, conducted for 56 posts across Geologist, Geophysicist, Chemist and Scientist B categories. This central-level exam went through preliminary and main stages before reaching this point.
Applications had opened on 20 September 2023 and closed on 10 October 2023 at 6 PM, with fee payment due the same day and a correction window from 11 to 17 October 2023. The preliminary exam was held on 18 February 2024, with its admit card out on 9 February 2024 and its result declared on 8 March 2024. The mains exam followed on 23 June 2024, with the admit card released on 14 June 2024 and the mains result declared on 14 August 2024. The reserve list was finally made available on 5 May 2025. The application fee was 200 rupees for General and OBC candidates, while SC, ST, PH candidates and women of all categories did not have to pay any fee.
Of the 56 posts, 34 are for Geologist Group A, 13 for Chemist Group A, 8 for Scientist B covering Hydrogeology, Chemical and Geophysics streams, and 1 for Geophysicist Group A, each requiring a relevant postgraduate degree such as a master's in geology, chemistry or physics. Candidates who appeared in the mains exam can now check their name in the reserve list released this year.
