The Union Public Service Commission has released the preliminary result for the Combined Geo-Scientist Examination 2025, for a total of 85 posts across geology, geophysics, chemistry and hydrogeology roles. Candidates who appeared in the preliminary exam can now check whether they have been shortlisted for the next stage.
Applications for this exam opened on 4 September 2024 and closed on 20 September 2024 at 6 PM, with the fee payment due by the same date. A correction and modification window was open from 25 September to 1 October 2024. The admit card was released on 31 January 2025, the preliminary exam was held on 9 February 2025, and its result was declared on 29 March 2025. The mains exam is scheduled for 21 and 22 June 2025. The fee for this exam was 200 rupees for General and OBC candidates, while SC, ST, PH candidates and all female candidates across categories were exempted from payment.
Among the 85 posts, Scientist B covering Hydrogeology, Chemical and Geophysics streams accounts for 61 vacancies, Geologist Group A accounts for 16, Geophysicist Group A accounts for 6, and Chemist Group A accounts for 2. Candidates who cleared the preliminary stage should now begin preparing for the mains exam in June.
