CGPA to Percentage Calculator
CGPA from credits and grades, and CGPA to percentage conversion
CGPA to percentageUniversity formulas, CBSE ×9.5 included
Conversion formulas are set by each university, not by a national standard, and the same letter grade can carry different points at different institutes. Government application forms usually want the figure from your official conversion certificate; use these numbers to check, not to replace it.
About this tool
Two different things get called CGPA conversion. The first is turning a grade sheet into a number: multiply each subject's grade point by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The second is turning that number into a percentage, which every university does slightly differently.
CBSE uses a multiplier of 9.5, many state universities use 10 with a fixed deduction, and autonomous institutes publish their own formula. The multiplier is editable here; take it from your own university's conversion notification rather than assuming CBSE's.
Frequently asked questions
›How do I convert CGPA to percentage?
For CBSE, percentage = CGPA × 9.5. Other universities use different formulas (some subtract a constant, some publish a lookup table), so check your institution's official conversion rule.
›What is the difference between SGPA and CGPA?
SGPA is the grade point average for one semester. CGPA is the credit-weighted average across all semesters completed so far.
›Do government job forms accept CGPA?
Most require a percentage. Attach your university's conversion certificate if the form asks for one; a self-computed figure can be rejected at document verification.
