These are indicative bands drawn from previous years' counselling trends, not official cutoffs. Closing ranks move every year with the seat matrix and paper difficulty, and category ranks come from separate merit lists that cannot be derived exactly from a general rank.
About this tool
Counselling closing ranks move every year with the number of candidates, seat matrix changes and how the paper went. Rather than pretend to know an exact branch-wise cutoff, this predictor works in institute tiers (bands of colleges that historically close in a similar rank range) and tells you whether your rank sits comfortably inside a band, on its edge, or beyond it.
Category ranks are estimated from the general-category band using the typical spread between category merit lists. Use the result to build a realistic choice-filling order, then verify every closing rank on the official counselling portal (JoSAA, MCC or TNEA) before locking your choices.
Frequently asked questions
›How accurate is a college predictor?
It is directional. Closing ranks for the same branch at the same institute can move by thousands of ranks between years, so a predictor is useful for shortlisting and unreliable as the sole basis for a choice list.
›Should I fill choices beyond my predicted tier?
Yes. Filling a longer, well-ordered choice list costs nothing and protects you if cutoffs relax. The only rule is strict preference order: never place a less-preferred option above a more-preferred one.
›Does the predictor account for home-state quota?
Home-state quota usually gives a meaningfully better closing rank than the all-India quota at state institutes. The bands here are all-India oriented, so treat home-state prospects as better than shown.
