About this tool

JEE Main results are reported as an NTA score (a normalised percentile, not raw marks) because the exam runs across multiple shifts of differing difficulty. Rank is then derived from the percentile across all candidates in the session.

This tool works in both directions: enter marks to get an estimated percentile, or enter a percentile you already have to get the corresponding rank. It also flags whether you are likely to be inside the roughly 2.5 lakh candidates who qualify for JEE Advanced.

Frequently asked questions

›How does NTA percentile convert to rank?

Rank is approximately (100 − percentile) ÷ 100 × the number of candidates who appeared. At around 12 lakh candidates, a 99 percentile corresponds to roughly rank 12,000.

›Which session's percentile counts?

If you appear in both sessions, NTA takes the better of the two NTA scores for your final ranking.

›What percentile qualifies for JEE Advanced?

The top 2.5 lakh candidates across categories qualify. In recent years the general-category cutoff has sat around the 93 percentile mark, though it moves every year.
